Literature of the United States is a survey course meant to show a few of the most representative literary works in relation to the literary movements within which they were produced.
Students are expected to read the texts and analyse them in a critical way, establishing a dialogue between them and their context of production (the literary movements).
Apart from providing a general knowledge about American literature, including the XIXth, XXth and XXIst century, the main aim of this course is to provide the students with analytical tools that may make them well-informed, critical readers.
